Notice
Our animal levels have risen to an all time high. Over 200 animal to care for. Sheltering, vetting and transporting is expensive and is draining our resources. If we fail hundreds of animals, perhaps thousands each year will perish. Who will be their voice then? We need your support now, more than ever. If you are interested in adopting, you should express interest quickly because of the urgency to keep open spots for newcomers.
Donations & supplies can be dropped off at the shelter during open hours or arrange a time by emailing sam@marionrhs.org or call 998-0100 and leave a message.
We are currently sheltering 191 animals at the shelter with more in foster care,
animal care and animal control. We need your help and support.

Drivers and Volunteers Needed
We have a serious need for drivers to transport volunteer workers for us Monday thru Friday. These workers can be picked up between the hours of 7:30 to 9:00 AM and returned at between 2:30-3:00 PM. The amount of time on either trip from Marion is app. 30 minutes roundtrip. If you can offer to help on only one morning or afternoon to make one trip it would help tremendously. There are usually 2 or 3 persons per car to pick up.
We also still need animal care/maintenance on all days of the week. Mornings 8:30-9:00 AM to 11:30 and evening around 4:30 to 5:30 PM. Weekend slots on Saturday and Sundays are still needed for as long as you can offer. With our animal population so high help is needed more than ever.
We still need a few holes filled in our shelter office to remain open consistently. This job involves answering the phone and being at the shelter to allow the public access on a regular basis.
We currently rely on one individual to drive our transport van to Joliet on Tuesdays but we need a relief/backup driver so we don't miss any transport runs. This drive involves meeting on Tuesday AM and driving animals on rescue north to Joliet with stops at Mt. Vernon, Champagne, and Effingham. You can drive right back or spend the night with relatives or friends. This is a big one for us.

Lost 4/24 on Saluki Drive west side of Marion. Six year old, off-white, female Chihuahua, four pounds. Sweet and friendly. Wearing hot pink/light pink sweater and purple collar with rhinestones. Contact sam@marionrhs.org
