Many volunteers are still needed if we are going to succeed !
To rescue, shelter and care for hundreds of animals requires a lot of specialized jobs and duties. All tasks are important and the more people there are helping the less each person has to do and the more we get done. Please take the time to look over our job tasks and see if you can help on any of these. Many tasks can require as little as an hour or two a week. Some might not even require leaving home. Surely you can offer a little time to help make a difference. Look over our list on our  Volunteer Opportunities page.

                          Tribute to One Cool Cat
I never ceased to chuckle at P.B. (Pooh Bear) every time I passed through our free range room at the shelter. He would always hang out in his favorite spot in the window watching the world go by all the while giving all the younger cats who might encroach a good tongue lashing like some old man waving his cane. P.B. was born in 1994 and ended up in a shelter in Perry County in 2001. He was rescued along with a female cat by a local lady and they lived with her for several years until his second chance ran out and her husband demanded the cats must go. P.B. was accepted in our shelter in January 2008 and wasn't particularly happy about his new home until he got to roam freely in our free range room. There he learned to accept his plight until early July when he was taken to a vet to be checked for weight loss. P.B. was developing diabetes and was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After weeks of observation and rapidly diminishing health P.B.'s story ended on
August 17th, 2008. He deserved more and got less. May God rest his soul.
